Long-Endurance, Wide-Area Coverage

The Sky Whale VTOL series features a high lift-to-drag ratio wing design and an efficient propulsion system, achieving up to 3.5 hours of endurance with a 2 kg payload, delivering long-endurance performance with coverage of up to 10 km per flight. Compared to traditional vehicle-based patrols, VTOLs significantly increase operational efficiency by more than six times; compared with conventional multirotor platforms, it reduces the frequency of takeoffs and landings, enabling real routine aerial patrol operations.

All-Weather, Day-and-Night Operational Capability

Equipped with a dual-sensor gimbal (visible light + thermal imaging), the system features a thermal resolution of up to 1280x1024, enabling detection of targets with temperature differences ranging from -20℃ to +150℃. With an IP54 protection rating, it operates reliably in light rain and continues to deliver clear imaging at night, in rain and fog, and under vegetation occlusion—enabling truly all-weather, uninterrupted security surveillance.

AI Target Tracking and Precision Positioning Capability

YANGDA UAV cameras are equipped with embedded deep learning models. These models automatically detect targets such as vehicles, personnel, and vessels, enabling target locking and continuous tracking. The cameras are also equipped with a laser rangefinder, which, based on UAV attitude data and GPS positioning, enables real-time calculation of target latitude and longitude with a positioning accuracy of less than 5 meters. All detected target coordinates, trajectories, and imagery can be instantly transmitted to command centers or ground terminals with a single click, enabling a closed-loop security workflow with aerial detection and ground-level response.

BVLOS Communication and Remote Control Capability

YANGDA supports optional BVLOS communication solutions, including long-range point-to-point video links, 4G/LTE & 5G, and satellite modules, enabling operations beyond terrain and distance limitations. The border checkpoint is a key overland gateway from China to Southeast Asia, handling more than 3,000 cross-border vehicles daily. However, due to the complex surrounding terrain and dense forests, ground inspection becomes difficult, as traditional fixed-camera patrols fail to effectively cover blind spots, allowing illegal activities such as smuggling and unauthorized crossings to occur along the border. The checkpoint authorities urgently require a UAV system capable of delivering all-weather, wide-area aerial surveillance.

Deployment Solution
YANGDA deployed two Sky Whale electric VTOL UAV systems for the border checkpoint, each equipped with three sets of XTurbo smart batteries, a Storm Eye EO/IR gimbal, and 4G communication module. The UAV performs two automatic patrol missions per day, covering the core area of the checkpoint and a surrounding radius of 5 kilometers. To ensure rapid operational readiness, our engineers conducted a 7-day on-site training program, certifying four local UAV operators from the local patrol unit.
